Highway Vehicle Stops and the Drug Trafficker - Spanish

This course will provide instruction to law enforcement officers in techniques of roadside interviews to be used in traffic stops of suspected drug couriers. It is the goal of this course to provide these techniques to lead to the safe discovery of illegal contraband and ultimately, a successful prosecution.

Special considerations due to the increasing amount of drug trafficking being conducted through the use of highways and vehicle transportation, the MCTFT program has created this course to meet your specific training needs. While it is very common for this course to be delivered with both the Highway Drug Investigations and the Legal Aspects, either one of these topics can be delivered to your organization separately.

Course Objectives

• Determine if an investigation should and can continue after a traffic stop
• Utilize documented traffic stop information in such way that it can be used in court to justify related investigations
• Identify indicators of suspicious behavior, deceptive statements, and suspicious non-verbal indicators
• Identify the most favorable locations to conduct and interview, and know the procedures for separating the occupants prior to the interview
• Utilize highway interviewing techniques meant to ensure the safety of officers, drivers, and passengers
