Counter Narco-Terrorism/Terrorist Financing

This class will provide participants with the principles and techniques available to conduct Narco-Terrorism/Terrorism Financing investigations. This course is designed for local, County, State, and Federal law enforcement investigators, as well as prosecutors, to assist them in recognizing, analyzing, and disrupting activities that fund terrorism through the narcotics trade.

Similar to traditional narcotics investigations, terrorist funding uses both traditional and non-traditional methods to hide and launder monies. Practical interactive exercises will be used to re-enforce both Narco-Terrorism funding as well as Terrorism Financing investigations. These exercises will relate to specific businesses that are common to both.

Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to identify and investigate Narco-Terrorism/Terrorism Financing schemes using a �financial perspective� approach. They will also be able to:

  • Recognize the differences between Narco-Terrorism and Terrorism financing
  • Utilize a broader knowledge of the law, as well as national/international resources, to expand an investigation of suspected terrorist activity in their community
  • Appropriately handle financial records and understand how the records can be used to trace monies to Terrorist activity

  • Money laundering methods used to support/fund terrorist operations
  • Overview of money laundering laws
  • Sources of financial information available for tracing monies
